I shouldn't have to beg for it: Samantha Ruth Prabhu sheds light on the need for pay parity in the film industry, wants filmmakers to pay her willing

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is a superstar; in real and reel too. She has established herself as a dependable actress who can pull off any role with equal ease. Now, the pan-India star is gearing up for the release of Shaakuntalam. During an interview with an entertainment portal, Samantha shared her views on pay disparity in the film industry. The actress shared that she doesn't believe in begging to be paid equally. Instead, she wants filmmakers to pay her willingly on the basis of her hard work.

In the interview with the entertainment portal, Samantha told, "I am fighting hard, not directly...it's not like I am fighting to be paid equally, I want it to be a byproduct of the hard work and success. People should just come and say, 'Yes, we want to pay you this much'. I shouldn't have to beg for it. I believe that comes with an incredible amount of hard work."

She further added, "When I put up this quote in my bio which says, 'Whatever your capabilities, you must stretch them to the limit and a little beyond' and when you are a woman in this industry, it's not just enough to stretch your capabilities to your limits but then you need that a little more. There's stress on a 'little more' because it's just that much harder."

Samantha was last seen in the Telugu film Yashoda (2022). The actress is paired with Vijay Deverakonda in Kushi which will release on September 1. Samantha is currently shooting for the Hindi version of the Russo Brothers' Citadel with Varun Dhawan. The series is directed by Raj & DK.
