Jass desperately tries to manage both relationships while keeping the truth under wraps while a series of misunderstandings, chaotic situations and laugh-out-loud moments follow. With emotions running high and complications increasing at every step, Jass finds himself trapped in a mess of his own making. How he navigates this madness, what impact it has on everyone involved, and whether he manages to find a way out form the crux of the story.
Acting
Varun Dhawan is in his absolute element and delivers one of his most entertaining performances. His comic timing, screen presence and effortless energy drive the film. Mrunal Thakur shines with her natural charm and emotional sincerity, while Pooja Hegde brings confidence, glamour and warmth to her role. Maniesh Paul emerges as one of the film's biggest highlights. His impeccable comic timing and hilarious antics ensure some of the loudest laughs. Jimmy Shergill is dependable as always, while Rajesh Kumar, Chunky Panday, Rakesh Bedi and Ayesha Raza add to the madness with their seasoned performances. Mouni Roy also makes her presence felt, delivering a good performance and bringing plenty of humour to the film.
Direction
David Dhawan returns to his comfort zone and proves why he remains one of Bollywood's most successful entertainers. He keeps the narrative moving at a brisk pace, ensuring that the humour never loses momentum. From larger-than-life situations to perfectly timed comic sequences, the veteran filmmaker brings back the flavour of the family entertainers that made him a household name. What stands out is his ability to balance comedy with emotions without allowing either to overpower the other. The film carries the unmistakable David Dhawan stamp throughout, making it a thoroughly enjoyable theatrical experience.
Dialogues
The dialogues, penned by Farhad Samji and Sajawal Yunas, are one of the strongest aspects of the film. The witty one-liners, humorous exchanges and situational comedy consistently land well. Several scenes benefit greatly from their sharp writing and the excellent delivery by the cast, particularly Varun Dhawan and Maniesh Paul. The humour feels organic, old-school Bollywood in the best sense, and keeps the audience engaged throughout the film's runtime.
Music
The music perfectly complements the film's energetic and colourful tone. The songs are mounted on a grand scale and add to the overall entertainment value. From romantic tracks to upbeat dance numbers, the soundtrack enhances the narrative without disrupting its flow. The background score also plays an important role in elevating the comic moments and maintaining the film's lively atmosphere.
Overall
‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ is a complete family entertainer that proudly embraces the classic David Dhawan formula of comedy, confusion, romance and emotions. The film does not attempt to reinvent the wheel, but it succeeds in delivering exactly what audiences expect from a full-fledged commercial Bollywood entertainer.
