Storyline

‘Dadi Ke Shaadi’ follows Toni Kalra (Kapil Sharma), who finally gets the chance to marry his college crush Kannu (Sadia Khateeb) after years of one-sided love. However, their wedding plans are turned upside down when Kannu’s dadi Vimla (Neetu Kapoor) announces that she wants to remarry. Shocked by the decision, Vimla’s children rush to Shimla, where she lives alone, to understand the reason behind her unexpected announcement. Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, in her acting debut, plays Vimla’s daughter who is settled abroad after marriage and returns home to be with her family during the emotional turmoil. As the family comes together under one roof, the film unfolds as a heartwarming blend of humour, emotions, and family drama with a meaningful social message.

Acting

Neetu Kapoor delivers one of her most endearing and emotionally-layered performances in recent years, bringing grace, warmth, vulnerability, and strength to her character with remarkable ease. Kapil Sharma surprises with a restrained and heartfelt act, while Sadia Khateeb brings freshness and warmth that beautifully complements the film’s emotional tone. Together, they share a natural chemistry that feels comforting and genuine. Sarath Kumar impresses with his effortless charm and commanding screen presence, adding emotional depth to the narrative. Riddhima Kapoor Sahni leaves a confident and promising mark with a sincere screen presence. The supporting cast further strengthens the family dynamics, balancing humour and emotional conflicts with complete authenticity.

Direction

Ashish R. Mohan handles the film with sincerity and simplicity, which becomes its biggest strength. He keeps the narrative light and engaging while allowing emotional moments to land naturally without becoming overly dramatic. The film never tries too hard to manipulate emotions, and that honesty works in its favour. Shimla’s scenic beauty adds warmth and comfort to the storytelling, making the film visually soothing throughout. RTake Studios, BeingU Studios and Shimla Talkies create a world that feels like a comforting family holiday filled with laughter, emotions and togetherness. The direction ensures that every emotional beat feels grounded and relatable.

Dialogues

The dialogues are simple, realistic and emotionally effective. They feel rooted in everyday family conversations rather than written for dramatic effect, which helps the emotional moments connect better. The humour also comes naturally through the interactions, making the family dynamics feel warm and believable.

Music

The music blends smoothly into the narrative and supports the emotional tone of the film well. Songs like ‘Senti’ and ‘Suno Na Dil’ add warmth to the storytelling and stay with you even after the film ends. The background score also complements the feel-good atmosphere without overpowering the emotions on screen.

Overall

A heartwarming family entertainer that breaks stereotypes with warmth and honesty, ‘Daadi Ki Shaadi’ is wholesome, emotional and deeply relatable. With strong performances, comforting storytelling and genuine emotions, the film leaves behind a smile long after it ends.
