Storyline

Mercy tells the story of a close-knit family led by a single mother, Sujata, who raised her two sons, Shekhar and Vihaan, after her husband’s demise. While life seems stable with Shekhar expecting a child with his wife Jiya, underlying tensions surface between the brothers over financial struggles. The situation takes a tragic turn when Sujata slips into a coma, leaving the family divided over whether to keep her on life support. As hope clashes with practicality, Shekhar finds himself caught in an emotional and moral dilemma that reshapes their lives.

Acting

Raj Vasudeva delivers a controlled and sincere performance, effectively capturing the emotional conflict of a son caught between hope and acceptance. Adil Hussain adds depth with his composed presence, elevating key moments with subtle intensity. Niharica Raizada and Kunal Bhan provide reliable support, contributing to the realism of the family dynamic. Though all performances are grounded, they sometimes fall short of fully amplifying the film’s emotional depth.

Direction

Mitul Patel approaches the sensitive subject with restraint and maturity, steering clear of unnecessary melodrama. His storytelling remains quiet and introspective, allowing the theme to take center stage. However, this subtle approach occasionally leads to a lack of emotional build-up, making certain sequences feel distant. Despite its flaws, the direction reflects a genuine attempt to handle a complex issue with care.

Dialogues

The dialogues aim to express the internal conflicts and philosophical undertones of the story, but they don’t always feel entirely organic. At times, they come across as slightly staged, which affects the emotional immediacy. Nevertheless, the film benefits from moments of silence and minimal exchanges, where the unspoken emotions resonate more effectively than words.

Music

The music and background score remain understated, aligning well with the film’s somber and reflective tone. Instead of relying on heavy compositions, the film uses subtle soundscapes to support the narrative.
