Delhi Crime Season 3 Review : A hard-hitting subject, let down by a flat narrative

Show: Delhi Crime Season 3

Cast: Shefali Shah, Huma Qureshi, Rasika Duggal, Rajesh Tailang, Aditi Singh, Sayani Gupta

Direction: Tanuj Chopra

Rating; 2.5 Moons

Storyline

'Delhi Crime Season 3' continues where the previous season ended. Posted in the Northeast, DIG Vartika Chaturvedi (Shefali Shah) goes looking for a truck loaded with weapons, but finds young girls being trafficked. Meanwhile, in Delhi, two-year-old Noor is left dying in a hospital, and ACP Neeti Singh (Rasika Duggal) begins an investigation. The two cases are connected, revealing a larger network, behind which "Badi Didi" ( Huma Qureshi) emerges.

Acting

This season's greatest strength is once again the deep and impressive performances of Shefali Shah and her team. Shefali brings a full weight of emotion to the scenes even without dialogue. Rasika Duggal, Rajesh Tailang, and Aditi Singh look effortless in their roles. Huma Qureshi captures the Haryanvi accent, but she doesn't bring enough layers to Badi Didi. Sayani Gupta's character seems bland, while Meeta Vashisht makes an impression even in a small role.

Direction

Tanuj Chopra's direction captures the sensitivity of the social issue and portrays this tragic trafficking network with realism. However, this time the investigation lacks the urgency and suspense that has been the hallmark of 'Delhi Crime'. The team finds the culprits a bit easily, and some incidents seem unbelievable, such as Badi Didi and Vijay's seamless travel across multiple states after committing such risky crimes. The lack of a backstory also weakens this season.

Dialogues

Dialogues are the emotional pulse of this series. Many dialogues have a profound impact and reinforce the gravity of the story. The lyrics are well-written in keeping with the show's tone and theme, forcing the viewer to pause and reflect.

Overall

If you're a fan of crime thrillers and have watched the previous two seasons of 'Delhi Crimes', this season is worth watching. Although it seems to be the weakest of the three.
