Mirai Movie Review : Blend of mythology & fantasy with stunning visuals

Film: Mirai

Cast: Taja Sajja, Manoj Manchu, Shriya Saran, Ritika Nayak, Jayaram, Jagapathi Babu

Director: Karthik Gattamneni

Rating: 3 Moons

 Storyline

‘Mirai’ is a blend of mythology and fantasy. Starting from the nine Mahagranths written by Emperor Ashoka and the legacy of their preservation, the story reaches Veda (Teja Sajja), who is chosen to save the world. He faces a powerful enemy like Mahabir Lama. The addition of a divine weapon called ‘Mirai’ makes the film even more grand. Although the idea is new, the story seems cumbersome at some places.

Acting

Teja Sajja has given a brilliant performance as Veda and looks even more mature after ‘Hanuman’. Manoj Manchu as villain Mahabir Lama is effective and creates fear on screen. Shriya Saran’s sacrificial character raises the emotional aspect of the film. Rana Daggubati’s cameo gives a surprise, while the supporting cast has also done a good job.

Direction

Karthik Gattamneni’s direction tries to make ‘Mirai’ not just a film but an experience. He has beautifully blended mythology, science and visuals. However, at times the technical grandeur overpowers the story and the emotional connect is a bit weak.

Dialogues

The dialogues of the film are inspiring and powerful, especially those based on religion and sacrifice. They are as powerful as the actors.

Music

The background score brings the scenes alive, but music is the weak link. The songs are unmemorable and slow down the flow of the film.

Overall

‘Mirai’ is a grand visual experience that lovers of mythology and fantasy will enjoy. Superb acting, strong dialogues and visuals make it special. You can give it a try.
