Storyline
War 2 begins with a sword-fight sequence in Japan, showcasing Hrithik Roshan as Kabir at his lethal best. From there, the mission shifts to Berlin, where Kabir sets out to dismantle the dangerous Kali Cartel. Kiara Advani plays a Wing Commander and daughter of Ashutosh Rana’s character, adding emotional depth to the stakes. Jr. NTR’s grand entry, though highly anticipated, feels uneven and reminiscent of Tiger’s moments in the Spy Universe. While the plot follows the familiar “nation first” template, Ayan Mukerji adds enough twists and emotional beats to keep it engaging, even if a tighter screenplay could have made it sharper.
Acting
Hrithik Roshan slips back into Kabir’s shoes effortlessly, exuding the perfect blend of charm and intensity. Jr. NTR is the real surprise package, delivering a powerhouse performance with an electrifying entry that instantly shifts the film’s energy. Their “class meets mass” dynamic is the film’s biggest win. Anil Kapoor and Kiara Advani add solid support, holding their ground in a film dominated by action titans.
Direction
Ayan Mukerji’s take on the spy genre is stylish yet emotionally anchored. He balances scale and spectacle with a more human approach to the characters, something that’s often missing in action blockbusters. While the pacing dips slightly in the middle, the set-pieces and emotional beats are staged with precision, proving his versatility beyond fantasy epics.
Dialogues
The dialogues serve the action well, with punchlines that land at the right moments. “Nation First” emerges as a recurring sentiment that captures the film’s core spirit. While some exchanges feel a bit predictable, the confrontations between Hrithik and Jr. NTR is crackling with tension and charisma, keeping the audience hooked.
Music
The background score does most of the heavy lifting, amplifying the adrenaline in action scenes. The songs themselves are functional rather than memorable, working better within the film than as standalone tracks. Still, the musical cues elevate key moments, especially during the big action reveals.
Overall
War 2 is a grand, entertaining face-off between two powerhouses of Indian cinema. With breathtaking action, strong performances, and a more emotionally resonant plot, it sets a new benchmark for the YRF Spy Universe.
