Rahul Raut's Bol Bollywood Bol 13: Kiran Rao's directorial tentatively titled 2 Brides; Lion Calling for Nawazuddin Siddiqui

What's In A Name?

Over two years after the announcement, Reliance Entertainment's Kaithi remake finally went on floors last week. Ajay Devgn is stepping into the shoes of Tamil star Karthik Sivakumar in this high-octane action-thriller and plays the role of a recently freed prisoner who's entrusted the responsibility to drive the cops to the nearest hospital after they are poisoned at a party. The 2019 Tamil hit's Hindi remake has been titled Bholaa and is being directed by Devgn's cousin Dharmendra Sharma. The Bollywood superstar began shooting for this film after Abhishek Pathak's Drishyam 2 that was supposed to roll from 7th January got deferred for several reasons. Devgn will now head to the Drishyam sequel only after finishing Bholaa

Dhobi Ghat director Kiran Rao's next film also began production last week in Maharashtra. The social comedy, backed by Aamir Khan's production banner, has tentatively been titled 2 Brides and stars Sparsh Srivastava, Pratibha Ranta, and Nitanshi Goel in the lead role. Written by Biplab Goswami and Sneha Desai, the film is rooted in a village and revolves around a boy and two girls. It's currently being shot in Shirdi and will be wrapped up by April 2022.

And when we're talking about the titles, let us also reveal the name of Disney+Hotstar's next big show. Filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia's debut web series based on Vikas Swarup's much-acclaimed novel Six Suspects has been titled The Great Indian Murder. The murder mystery starring Scam 1992 breakthrough talent Pratik Gandhi, Richa Chadha, and Ashutosh Rana has completed the production and will premiere in the first half of this year. Interestingly, the title of the series sounds similar to Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chhillar's upcoming YRF romantic-comedy, The Great Indian Family

Lion Calling For Nawaz!

It's time to move on to the next for Nawazuddin Siddiqui as he completes shooting for Tiger Shroff's Heropanti 2. We heard the National Award-winning actor is next getting into the skin of a customs officer for his next project backed by Bombay Fables Motion Pictures. Siddiqui is doing a film titled Lion Calling based on the life of a legendary customs officer who fearlessly worked to fix the flaws in the system. Award-winning journalist and producer Sejal Shah is making her directorial debut with this biopic written by Oh My God fame Bhavesh Mandalia. The film goes on floors in March.

Last seen in Netflix India's critically acclaimed Serious Men, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has as many as six films scheduled to release this year. Apart from Sajid Nadiadwala's Heropanti 2 that comes out in theatres during Eid weekend, the actor also has Kushan Nandy's Jogira Sara Ra Ra, Jaideep Chopra's Sangeen, and Shamas Nawab Siddiqui's Bole Chudiyan in the slate. Siddiqui is also doing Sabir Khan's Adbhut, and Kangana Ranaut's Tiku Weds Sheru — both scheduled to hit cinemas this year itself.

Blurr, Fallen, and…?

Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota actor Gulshan Devaiah has some exciting projects coming up this year. All the films and web series he shot throughout last year will hit screens one by one in 2022. His first release will be Amazon Prime India's crime drama series Fallen, directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi. Devaiah plays a police officer in this Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby Production venture that also marks Dabangg girl Sonakshi Sinha's OTT debut. Gully Boy star Vijay Varma and Tumbbad fame Sohum Shah also play pivotal roles in this true-story based show.

Gulshan Devaiah will then be seen opposite Taapsee Pannu in her maiden production Blurr. The Ajay Bahl directorial is the remake of the 2010 Spanish horror thriller, Julia's Eyes that tells the story of a woman who's slowly losing her sight whilst trying to investigate the mysterious death of her twin sister. The film was extensively shot in Uttarakhand in August last year and will premiere on an OTT platform sometime this year. Devaiah's next after Blurr will be an MX Player series that also stars Gauhar Khan and Shivaani Singh in the lead role. It's a thriller drama helmed by Youngistaan (2014) and Laal Rang (2016) director Syed Ahmed Afzal and produced by Piyush Gupta. The shooting of this yet-untitled series was completed last December in Bhopal.
