Mortal Kombat 2: Karl Urban in final talks to star as fan-favourite character Johnny Cage in the film adaptation of the hit video-game

Karl Urban is in final talks to star as fan-favourite character Johnny Cage in the sequel to New Line’s hit 2021 action adventure Mortal Kombat. The film is based on the blockbuster video-game franchise. The film will once again be directed by Simon McQuoid. Jeremy Slater has written the screenplay for the sequel.

Mortal Kombat is based on the video-game created by Ed Boon and John Tobias and is a global phenomenon. Cage was first introduced in the arcade game in 1992 and has become a central character in the series. He is a movie star with an extensive martial arts background and is depicted as an uber cool character who places great importance on his image.

Mortal Kombat 2 will be produced by Atomic Monster’s James Wan, Broken Road Production’s Todd Garner, Simon McQuoid and E Bennett Walsh.
