MET Gala 2023, which was held on May 1 (May 2 in India), paid homage to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld. The celebrities in attendance were dressed to pay tribute to him and his lineage. Indian celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Isha Ambani and Natasha Poonawalla marked their presence along with Hollywood personalities like Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, Doja Cat, Jared Leto and several others.
After walking the red carpet and paying a visit to the Karl Lagerfeld exhibition, the celebrities were served a menu which was inspired by the late fashion designer. According to a magazine's report, the dinner was curated by caterer Olivier Cheng keeping Karl's love for dinner parties in mind. As per the report, the menu was inspired by Karl's dinner for designer Paloma Picasso and Rafael Lopez-Sanchez in 1978 after their wedding.

As per the magazine's report, the celebrities were served chilled spring pea soup with baby vegetables, lemon crème fraîche, and truffle snow, followed by ra King salmon with vegetable nage, asparagus, pickled strawberries, and radish. In addition to that, the guests were served wine and Diet Coke. Before bidding adieu to the gala, the guests were treated to a variety of petit fours.
