Steven Spielberg’s much-awaited adaptation of the 1957 Broadway musical West Side Story has got a release date in India. Starring Ansel Elgort, Rachel Zegler, Ariana DeBose, David Alvarez, Mike Faist, Josh Andrés Rivera, Ana Isabelle, Corey Stoll, Brian d’Arcy James and Rita Moreno, the film will release on December 10, 2021.
West Side Story tells the classic tale of fierce rivalries and young love in 1957 New York City. A new poster of the film was issued along with the date announcement. The official Instagram account of 20th Century Studios India shared the poster and wrote, "Their love will change everything. Experience Steven Spielberg’s #WestSideStory. Only in cinemas on December 10."
From 20th Century Studios, Disney India will release West Side Story in cinemas on December 10, 2021. The teaser of the film was launched during the 93rd Academy Awards ceremony. The trailer was released in September. The screenplay of West Side Story is written and adapted by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Tony Kushner and was choreographed by New York City ballet director Justin Peck.
