It’s splitsville for Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez. Today, the singer and the New York Yankess alum confirmed they have called off their engagement in a statement to an online portal. They said, “We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects.”

Lopez and Rodriguez added that they "wish the best for each other and one another's children.” They further added, “Out of respect for them the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support." Lopez shares 13-year-old twins Emme and Max Muñiz with her ex-husband Marc Anthony whereas Rodriguez shares daughters Natasha, 16, and Ella Rodriguez, 12, with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis.

The news of Lopez’s and Rodriguez’s split comes a month after speculations of a rift in their relationship emerged. The reports followed that the couple had gone their separate ways but at that time they negated the rumours and Lopez even took to social media to dismiss the news. In March, the former couple had slammed the breakup rumours and said, “All reports are inaccurate. We are working through some things.” A publication had reported an alleged relationship between Rodriguez and Madison LeCroy. However, a source close to the couple had dismissed the claims of any third party being involved, claiming the reports about LeCroy are not true.

Last month the two had been spotted cozying up to each other in Dominican Republic where Lopez is filming her film Shotgun Wedding. However, things have changed now. Lopez and Rodriguez first made their relationship red carpet official at the 2017 Met Gala and got engaged in 2019.
