Rapper-actor DMX passes away at 50; Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Ranveer Singh mourn his demise

Rapper-actor DMX passed away at 50. The Grammy-nominated performer died after suffering “catastrophic cardiac arrest,” according to the hospital in White Plains, New York, where he died. He was rushed there from his home on April 2.

Celebrities paid tribute to the rapper after his demise on social media. Priyanka Chopra Jonas wrote a heartfelt note on Twitter and mentioned that DMX was ‘one of her favourite artists growing up’. She also remembered working with him and went on to call it a ‘dream come true’. Her tweet read, “He was one of my favourite artists growing up, and then to have had the opportunity to work with him was such a dream come true. Such a big loss for the music industry. #RIP DMX. Sending my thoughts and love to his family.”

Ranveer Singh also shared a condolence message. Sharing a black and white picture of DMX, Ranveer captioned the post with a heartbroken emoji. The actor also added the song 'Let Me Fly' of the rapper as the background. 

The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, had struggled with drug addiction since his teenage years. His lawyer, Murray Richman, had earlier said he could not confirm reports that DMX overdosed.
