Priyanka Chopra Jonas made all Indians proud when she was given the honour to announce the nominees for this year’s Academy Awards. Priyanka read out the Oscars 2021 nominations list with her American actor-singer husband Nick Jonas in a two-part virtual event. However, a social media user, whose profile describes him as a journalist based in Australia, questioned their 'contribution' to movies for announcing the Oscar 2021 nominees. Priyanka slammed the said journalist by showcasing her long list of filmography, after which he apologized for being unaware of the actress’ credentials.
While expressing that he didn’t mean any disrespect, he had writtten, “I’m not sure their contribution to movies qualifies them to be announcing Oscar nominees.” Giving him a befitting reply, Priyanka wrote, “Would love your thoughts on what qualifies someone. Here are my 60+ film credentials for your adept consideration.” The Twitter user whose handle is @mrpford deleted his original tweet.

In a second tweet, the journalist admitted his mistake saying that he wasn’t fully aware of Priyanka’s credits but still went ahead to question Nick’s contribution and wrote, “I agree her credits are very extensive and I was not fully aware of that. The contribution to Hollywood is minimal. Still no clarification on what her husbands contribution is. These are the Oscars. This isn’t personal - she’s a very successful and astute woman.”
The Twitter interaction between Priyanka and the journalist went viral with netizens hailing Priyanka and supporting her. With the furore the interaction caused, the journalist later made his account private.
