Avatar beats Avengers: Endgame to become the highest-grossing film of all time, Marvel Studio congratulates team for reclaiming the box office crown

James Cameron's Avatar still remains to be a favourite with cine-goers. The science fiction film released in 2009 and become the highest-grossing film at the time. However, 10 years later, the record was broken by Russo Brothers' Avengers: Endgame in 2019. But now, when Avatar re-released in theatres in China on Friday, the tables changed.

Avatar managed to bring back the audience to theatres after the COVID-19 pandemic in China. It surpassed Avengers: Endgame's box office collection to become the highest-grossing film of all time. Avengers: Endgame had taken the title with a box office collection of $2.797 billion. But now, Avatar's box office gross surpassed $2.802 billion.
