Dame Diana Rigg, known for roles in ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ passes away at 82

Dame Diana Rigg, well-known for playing roles including Emma Peel in TV series The Avengers and Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones, has died aged 82.

Her agent said, “She died peacefully early this morning. She was at home with her family who have asked for privacy at this difficult time.”

Rigg is also known for playing Tracy, the only woman who became Mrs James Bond in the 1969 film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

The Doncaster-born star had an illustrious career that included roles in the Royal Shakespeare Company on Broadway where she won three Tony Awards, on the West End and in countless television and films. She was made a CBE in 1988 and a Dame in 1994 for services to drama.
