Now, months later, an international entertainment portal reported that the makers have begun casting for the series. House Of The Dragon will have 10 episodes. Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik will be the showrunners.

House Of The Dragon will take the viewers 300 years before the events of the first show. The prequel is said to be based on renowned author George RR Martin's novel Fire and Blood. The author, who was associated with the previous versions of the show will continue with the spin-off as the creator with Ryan. House Of The Dragon is said to revolve around the reign of Targaryen kings which accounted for the events of Game of Thrones. The key characters of the Targaryen civil war are King Viserys I, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Queen Alicent Hightower and Aegon II Targaryen. It is still uncertain whether they will be a part of House Of The Dragon or not.

Fans assume the Targaryen civil war, also known as the Dance of the Dragons will feature the two primary female characters that are Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower. The war began over a royal-succession dispute between Rhaenyra and Alicent. King Viserys I Targaryen had no son from his first wife and hence named his eldest daughter Rhaenyra his heir to the Iron Throne. On the contrary, his second wife, Alicent handed the throne to her eldest son Aegon II Targaryen after King Viserys died. Post Aegon II Targaryen coronation, Rhaenyra summoned those who supported her claim to the throne and swore revenge on Aegon and Alicent.

House Of The Dragon will likely premiere in 2022.
