Nicolas Cage to play Joe Exotic in a scripted eight-episode television series based on the Tiger King's life

Nicolas Cage, after delivering stellar performances in films like National Treasure and Ghost Rider, is reportedly all set to make his much-awaited television debut. Well, yes. The actor has been roped in to play the role of Joe Exotic, popularly known for his Tiger King docuseries. The television series will be a scripted eight-episode show and will be produced by Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios. The series will be based on the Texas Monthly article Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild by Leif Reigstad.

According to reports, Dan Lagana will serve as a writer, showrunner as well as executive producer. As per sources close to the development informed an International publication that the series will revolve around the tale of how Joe Schreibvogel became Joe Exotic, an eccentric and exotic zookeeper in Oklahoma who battles odds to keep his park intact even at the risk of losing his sanity.
