Prince Harry and Meghan Markle step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family reportedly without consulting the Queen; intend to become financially independent
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stunned the British Royalty last night when they announced their decision to step down as the senior members of the Royal family. The announcement was made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their official Instagram page.
Explaining their decision, the couple announced that they have chosen to make a transition this year and "work to become financially independent" while "continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen." They even plan to balance their time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour their duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages. The decision comes in wake of their attempt to raise their son Archie "with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter", that is, the launch of their new charitable entity.
"We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support," the statement further read as.
Meanwhile, ever since the news broke out, Royals are reportedly deeply disappointed and Buckingham Palace said the situation was "complicated." The statement read, "Discussions with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage. We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through."
