Game Of Thrones: Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke pose on EW cover; spill the beans on final season

Ahead of the finale season of medieval fantasy series Game of Thrones, the first official image from the upcoming eighth and final season, slated to premier in 2019, has been unveiled. On the November cover of Entertainment Weekly, actors Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke embrace each other in character as Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. With stoic expressions on their faces, both actors pose in front of a snowy landscape.

GoT’s last episode The Dragon and Wolf, which aired in July 2017, left its viewers desperate for more. Although the episode confirmed the much-awaited unification of Jon Snow (Kit) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia), it failed to answer what the future holds for its key characters.

Now speaking from the show's set in Northern Ireland, Kit and Emilia spilled the beans on the final season by revealing how they endured a demanding 10-month shoot to film the final six episodes. Taking about it, Kit said, "It's relentless; scenes that would have been a one-day shoot five years ago are now a five-day shoot. They want to get it right, they want to shoot everything every single way so they have options." On the other hand, Emilia backed him up by stating, "[Camera] checks take longer, costumes are a bit better, hair and makeup a bit sharper — every choice, every conversation, every attitude, has this air of "this is it."

Co-executive producer Bryan Cogman further pointed out that the last season will have "all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their past."

Now we certainly cannot wait to witness the "emotional haunting and bittersweet" final season of the show, based on Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire book series.
