The official trailer to Shane Black's The Predator has finally hit the Internet unleashing a clear look at the terrorizing alien-like creatures invading the small suburban town.
The plot of the flick reportedly takes place between the events of Predator 2 (1990) and 2010’s Predators. But what are the ferocious Predators up to now?
The aliens are now stronger, smarter and deadlier than before, after having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species scattered across the cosmos. And it is Jacob Tremblay’s young, autistic Rory McKenna who triggers their return to Earth, at which point alien mayhem ensues.
The trailer opens a new set of Pandora box as it unveils another towering mega-Predator who seemingly knocks down the regular Predator. Brutal, right? Whether this superior being is the result of human experimentation (Courtesy: Olivia Munn’s horrified expression) remains to be seen.
Also to be noted is the fact that unlike their predecessors who stalk their prey from the shadows, this Predator freely bursts through the walls and stands out in the open amidst its enemies. Clearly, stealth is no longer a necessity.
And while the concept of Predators hunting each other is not new as seen in the older films wherein the super Predators hunt down their weaker counterparts. If the trailer is anything to go by, it's safe to assume this hunt isn't due to an intergalactic grudge match.
The film stars Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey and Yvonne Strahovski.
Will Black's rebooted version of the 1987 classic breathe life in this film, only the sands of time can tell. Shane Black and his ragtag crew of rangers go big-game hunting when The Predator opens September 14th.
