Oscar 2018: Jimmy Kimmel flags off the show in real Kimmel fashion

“This year if you hear your name... Don't get up right away, give us a minute”

'Oscars' - Be it hosting or to be the part of the ceremony, is no easy deal and without someone who can keep you seated, it could be a ‘so long and boring’. But that is rarely the case. This time, the show is hosted by none other than Jimmy Kimmel – our favorite late-night chat show host and comedian. For the second consecutive time, Kimmel is set to take us on a laughter riot.

Jimmy Kimmel flagged off the show by greeting everyone and then said, “This year if you hear your name... Don't get up right away, give us a minute” addressing mildly the infamous envelope gaffe last year. Killing all the buzz about his refrainment from speaking about sexual harassment, Kimmel went ahead to address the #MeToo and Times Up Movement. He even spoke about Black Panther, Wonder Woman, and Lady Bird. Talking about how major studios have finally brought to light the minority community and women-centric superhero movies, Kimmel mentioned how only 8% of directors in the business are women!

Following the classic old jokes about how long the show usually goes on for he said, "The one with the shortest speech gets a jet ski worth $17,999.” Now that’s a statement, Jimmy!

Let’s see what the stars pick – the jet ski or the speech of a lifetime.
