Neetu Kapoor got emotional writing Rishi Kapoor’s name on her hand; Alia Bhatt is a 'cool bride': EXCLUSIVE details from RanLia’s mehendi ceremony

Making us believe in happily ever after, Bollywood’s one of the most favourite couples, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt solidified their commitment to each other and bonded in the sacred union of matrimony on April 14, in an intimate ceremony attended by close friends and family. Today, the duo’s mehendi pictures have taken over the internet and needless to say, they are all things love! Just like their nuptials, the pre-wedding ceremony of mehendi-cum-sangeet was a low-key affair with friends, family, fun and food! Keeping everything understated, the bride definitely set a new trend with her understated look with barely-there makeup, fuss-free hairdo and her strikingly minimalistic mehendi!

Ditching the quintessential baraat and human figures, the actress opted for a simple henna design with striking elements that reflect her personality as well as her relationship with Ranbir. This elegant piece of work was done by Mumbai-based celeb henna artist Jyoti Chedda who has also worked with a number of celebrity brides such as Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Gauahar Khan, Karishma Tanna, Disha Parmar, to name a few.

In an exclusive chat with Peepingmoon.com, a source close to the development revealed that the henna artist was booked a month prior to the wedding just to reveal two days before the function who was this mehendi ceremony for. Though the artist was selected purely on the basis of her work and designs, the entire minimal concept for the mehendi was the bride’s idea. “Her wedding was planned on a minimal theme so she wanted everything to be very classy. She did not want any typical things like other brides do like OTT makeup or heavy lehengas. She decks up every day, so she wanted her wedding to be very real and very authentic.”

When asked about the intricate details of her mehendi, the source revealed that Alia did not want typical bridal henna with shehnaai and human figures. “She wanted her henna to have a mandala theme along with the infinity sign, Ranbir’s initial ‘R’ hidden in the design, a heart, bells and birds. She wanted to wrap up her mehendi in a quick half-hour and so she skipped applying henna on her feet. Contrary to others, Alia was a very cool bride. She is definitely a trendsetter”

It was also revealed that everyone at the ceremony opted for a minimal mehendi. “They wanted to have the fun of applying mehendi and so they got very pretty motifs and tattoos along with names. Right from Kareena (Kapoor Khan), Karisma (Kapoor), Karan (Johar), Neetu (Kapoor) ji, Soni Razdan, Mahesh Bhatt everybody in the room hennaed their palms. Karan applied a mandala design while Kareena wrote her husband Saif Ali Khan and children Taimur and Jeh’s names on her hand. Neetuji got very emotional writing Rishi Kapoor’s name on her hand. She reminisced about her engagement day and thought to tie the knot between Ranbir and Alia on this day. She was missing Rishi ji very much”

Lastly, speaking of the whole affair, it was revealed to PeepingMoon.com that the entire affair oozed fairytale vibes with friends and family celebrating this union.

“The couple is very much in love and it is visible. They are really made for each other,” the source concluded.
