Giving white models and actresses a miss, British Vogue celebrated ‘the reigning and emerging African superstars shifting the world of fashion' with its two special covers. Featuring 9 models namely Amar Akway, Majesty Amare, Akon Changkou, Nyagua Ruea, Abény Nhial, Maty Fall, Janet Jumbo, Adut Akech and Anok Yai in the spotlight, the issue highlights what it truly means to be global. These models have been a part of many shows strutting their way on the SS22 runway and into a new era as well. For an industry that is being called out for the lack of diversity and stereotyping beauty standards, this edition of Vogue brings a refreshing change.

Truly inspiring!

SAY HELLO TO THE NEW ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OF SERGIO ROSSI

Italian shoemaker Sergio Rossi has appointed a new artistic director and it's none other than the founder of the fashion blog, Style Heroine. Evangelie Smyrniotaki, who started her online magazine in 2011, has often collaborated with high-end luxury labels as an influencer. However, this appointment will see her beyond that. Instead of designing shoes for the luxury house, Smyrniotaki would look after the brand’s advertising campaigns, content creation, styling and creativity, and will report directly to Sergio Rossi CEO Riccardo Scitutto.

“I am proud to announce my new position as Sergio Rossi’s Artistic Director. It is a privilege to join Sergio Rossi at this exciting time and I look forward to shaping the new era with the brand. A huge thank you to @riccardosciutto and @marferrarotti, @matteopiana who have believed in me,” the Athens-based fashionista said in her statement.
