Roll out the red carpet, The MET Gala is BACK!

That’s right, folks! One of the biggest events of the fashion world, The MET Gala will be officially coming back, starting this September, in a major two-part exhibition along with a “slightly smaller celebration” on American fashion in 2021 and 2022. Vogue announced that the Costume Institute has no plans on stopping, blessing us with this exciting news, lifting our pandemic hit spirits.

Last year’s MET Gala was canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic but there is a ray of hope shining, that this year, the fashion world will be blessed with some fantastic costumes and designs by various artists and designer lines, bringing forth many creative geniuses.

While the theme hasn’t been announced yet, the Costume Institute has announced that their focus this year is on Homegrown Fashion. Both the shows will be held in two different parts of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The first show, scheduled to be held on September 18, 2021, will be the “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” will open in the Anna Wintour Costume Center and will remain on display when “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” opens on May 5, 2022, in the period rooms of the American Wing. Both shows will run through September 5, 2022.

Page Six was the first to report confirmation by an insider about MET Gala on April 8th along with the news that poet Amanda Gorman might be hosting the event. The insider added that designer Tom Ford is also being considered for hosting duties. The event, one of the fashion industries’ biggest nights, is usually held on the first Monday in May will have to be pushed to a later date due to the pandemic. As the pandemic had hit the world hard in 2020, Vogue, in lieu of an in-person event, live-streamed a digital show, with stars such as Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Julia Roberts showing off their beautiful costumes from their homes.

Some regular showstoppers at the MET Gala include Lady Gaga, Zendaya, Kim Kardashian West, Rihanna, Katy Perry, who dazzle us every time with their brilliant costumes and style.
