To aid the small designers, businessmen and artisans of the fashion fraternity affected by the pandemic of COVID-19, the Fashion Designer Council of India (FDCI) along with Lakme Fashion Week set up a COVID-19 Support Fund back in April 2020. This monetary fund aimed to provide assistance to all the small scale businesses to help them get back on their feet.
With an aim to contribute to this good cause, the designer duo of Shantanu & Nikhil Mehra came up with an interesting Instagram session featuring industry’s stalwart designers, Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Rahul Mishra, and Tarun Tahiliani. The guest designers joined the duo for an IG live chat and auctioned one of their designer pieces to raise funds for this noble cause.
Manish’s famous sequined saree was bid at Rs. 3,00,000 while Sabya’s curation chipped in Rs. 1,30,000. Rahul and his curation managed to raise Rs. 1,85,000 for the CSF.
Appreciating these efforts, FDCI expressed its gratitude towards the designers who bid their curation online as well as Shantanu & Nikhil for making this happen.
