The recent killing of African-America man George Floyd by a white policeman has sent the United States of America in a state of unrest. The news of the demise of Floyd took over social media on May 25, 2020, due to a video that went viral where a policeman can be seen kneeling on his neck for more than 5 minutes during an arrest while he lay handcuffed and crying out in pain about being unable to breathe.
In addition to the pandemic, protests have been going all over the country owing to this police brutality. Along with renowned celebrities, many high-end fashion labels have joined forces and showed their support to the ongoing ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement.
Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty urged everyone to ‘Pull TF up’ against this brutality and pledged to donate funds to support Black Lives Matter of Greater New York and The Bail Project in association with Clara Lionel Foundation.
Gap Inc’s brands Banana Republic, Athleta, Gap, and Old Navy joined hands and made donations of $250,000 to NAACP and EmbraceRace.
Fila stepped up its game and contributed $100k to Black Lives Matter.
Pretty Little Thing pledged to donate all the proceeds from its recent Saweetie collection to Black Lives Matter.
