Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee makes a generous donation of 15 million to the government relief funds for the battle against COVID-19

The ongoing battle with the Coronavirus Pandemic has definitely left the world worried ‘sick’! Owing to public safety many industries have observed a lockdown resulting in the economy coming to a standstill. Also, with the number of infected cases increasing day by day, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi set up PM’s relief fund for the citizens of India to provide monetary contributions that will aid the nation to fight this deadly virus.

Celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Rajkummar Rao, and others did their bit by contributing for the same. Joining the bandwagon, celebrated fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee also pledged to donate 15 million rupees for this noble cause.

After financially securing his employees, Sabya took it to his social media account to donate 10 million to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) and an additional 5 million to the Chief Minister of West Bengal’s Relief Fund that will help to ramp up the medical facilities. “After securing my employees, I am pledging Rs 10 million of personal funds to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF), and an additional Rs 5 million to the Chief Minister of West Bengal's Relief Fund, with the expectation that the money is used to ramp up medical facilities in the country," the statement read.

He also mentioned that this isn’t some kind of charity or he did it to garner some praise. He continued saying the investments in today’s efforts will come back to the society exponentially in the future. “I do not consider this as a charity, nor do I seek any kind of praise. Everything we do today combats the massive challenge that we are facing as a nation and as a world. Our investments in today's efforts will come back to us all exponentially in the future,"

He concluded his statement urging everyone to stay home, be responsible and give what they can to safeguard a better tomorrow. “Stay home, be responsible, give what you can and understand that we can do today will safeguard tomorrow”
