Ocean’s 8: We’re counting the pros!

The first thing that strikes us after watching the first trailer of Ocean’s 8 is – how are we gonna last out six whole months?! This cracker of a film – as the trailer suggests – will release on June 8, 2018, and the excitement is peaking already. The proceedings of this female-driven spinoff of Ocean’s Eleven, shows Sandra Bullock pleading her case, just like George Clooney had during his parole hearing. Bullock, who essaying the role of Debbie Ocean, sister of Clooney’s character Danny, who assembles a squad to pull off an incredible heist at the New York City annual Met Gala. With a cast that includes Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina and Sarah Paulson, the thrills are potent.

The already star-studded cast also includes James Corden, Dakota Fanning and Olivia Munn. Add to that expected cameos from Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Katie Holmes, Anna Wintour, Matt Damon and Carl Reiner, and this actioner rises several notches higher in eyeball-grabbing value.

So, here’s what we are learning and loving about the trailer…

The song, ‘These boots are made for walking…’ which plays, sets the tone for the fun to follow, as it smuggles in a feminist message in the guise of ‘just kidding’.

Jam-packed with exciting action it is, and we expect no less!

Danny Ocean is no more. We see Debbie Ocean, the estranged sister of George Clooney’s Danny, visiting the grave of her older brother, who apparently dies in 2018. However, given that Clooney is producing the project, there could well be a few surprises in store!

Debbie promises that if she is released from custody, she will choose "the simple life". But an Ocean being an Ocean, can she resist the lure of one ‘last’ job; a plot to rob the Met Gala? When Cate Blanchett's Lou asks her why, her answer is honest: “It's what I'm good at.”

With female-led action films thriving, we couldn’t be happier that every con has its pros!
