Paris Fashion Week: Fendi and Chanel give a moving tribute to Karl Lagerfeld and we're trying not to cry

Karl Lagerfeld's death has created a big void in the world of fashion. The legend, who was the creative director of Fendi and Chanel, was a dear friend to many from the fashion industry.

So, at the showcase of his last collection at the Milan Fashion Week, Fendi and Chanel paid special tributes to the late designer and we dare you to not cry!

Fendi aired a portion of Loïc Prigent’s 2013 documentary, “Karl Lagerfeld Sketches His Life,” after the models finished their finale walk and Silvia Venturini Fendi took her bow.

Fendi also posted the video on its Instagram from an interview where Karl was asked to draw a sketch of himself from when he first joined Fendi. Take a look:

Fendi also regrammed its logo of their signature 'F' with a red heart and Lagerfeld's signature, which was present on the set and for all the attendees to have.

The words, 'Love, Karl' were sketched above the runway all throughout the show.

Chanel's show was set on a backdrop of a snowy day. Karl's love for larger-than-life sets was taken forward, even in his absence.

Audio recordings of Lagerfeld speaking in French played over speakers. "It's like walking in a painting," the late designer mused in one of the recordings. The house then held a minute of silence for the room to pay respects to Lagerfeld. Sketches of the late designer were given to the attendees as a memento.

Cara Delvigne, popular supermodel and a very close friend of Karl's, opened the show. Actress Penelope Cruz also walked the runway. Sticking to Karl's taste, the collection was based on the classic monochrome color palette with fusions of trends like houndstooth, tweed, pearls, checks and gemstones.

Both, Fendi and Chanel, closed their collections on the beats of David Bowie’s Heroes, as a parade of models did the strut while they fought back tears.

It was indeed an emotional farewell for Karl while paying utmost respect to his legacy at Chanel and Fendi. A big loss for the fashion industry, a void that can never be replaced.
