Gigi’s custom Versace look was a modern interpretation of 1800s exaggerated puffer coats fused with the new-age era’s latex catsuits. The corset detailing and elongated puffer train vouched for gilded glamour!

Hailey descended on the red carpet of the gala with an angelic white satin dress from YSL. The daring back with stunning feather deets was giving a retro appeal to her overall look.

MEGAN THEE STALLION

Fitting the theme, Megan was glistening and gliding in a golden Moschino custom outfit jazzed up with feathered shoulders and mesh detailing on the waist. The feisty thigh slit furthermore added to the drama of her look.

ALESSANDRO MICHELE AND JARED LETTO

Twinning and winning at the gala were Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele and actor Jared Leto. The custom look was inspired by mid-19th century photography that reproduced photos in series creating optical illusions that reshaped reality. Both Alessandro and Jared opted for a custom Gucci double-breasted suit with all-over floral bouquet embroideries with gold beads and pearls worn with an evening shirt, suede boots, satin bowtie and a suede Gucci Blondie bag.

CARDI B

Cardi’s molten gold personified look was a high-voltage take on Gilded Age glamour. Her custom Atelier Versace gown featured a mile of golden metal chains embroidered above an illusion tulle column dress. Adding to the old-world glamour was the hand-sculpted neck collar and those metallic gloves.

KENDALL JENNER

Contrasting Kylie Jenner’s all-white bridal look, Kendall glided on the red carpet in a voluminous ball gown from Prada that bore pleated ruffles all over the skirt. The mesh bodice of the customized outfit added a modern touch to her vintage outfit. Adding an edge to her look were her bleached brows.

GEMMA CHAN

Taking vintage glamour a notch higher at the gala was Gemma Chan with her Louis Vuitton look. Giving corset and bustier a miss, the actress opted for a 19th-century vintage silhouette that bore scintillating embellishments all over. Her chandelier-inspired look was layered with a sequined jacket draped over her shoulders.

BELLA HADID

Bella exuded Victorian vibes in a custom corset and lace leggings overlaid with a chiffon skirt from the label Burberry. Her look was teamed with a chiffon shawl, lace gloves and leather sandals. The vintage pearled anklet was a subtle nod to the theme of the gala.

DAKOTA JHONSON

Dakota looked 50 shades of gorgeous in a sheer jumpsuit from Gucci accentuated with fringe details all over. Glitz and glided glamour!

VANESSA HUDGENS

Simone picked a Moschino look for the night that bore a sparkling cropped bustier with a flowing black satin skirt along with a jacket on top.

SARAH JESSICA PARKER

SJP’s Cristopher John Rogers’s ballroom gown paid homage to Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley, who was the first Black fashion designer employed at the White House.

MISSES

While the majority of the stars took the opportunity to ace the themed costume party, there were some who missed the memo with their tad bit understated looks.

KYLIE JENNER

Even though she showcased the late Virgil Abloh’s creation from his posthumous collection we failed to understand the significance of this look and the theme of the gala. The only American thing we could have spotted in her look was that baseball cap!

SOPHIE TURNER AND JOE JONAS

Though Sophie and Joe’s homage to the Addam’s Family in Louis Vuitton ensembles, was relevant to the American theme, we have seen them do a similar kind of thing for the Halloween party of 2018. Given their individual style caliber, we expected a tad bit more drama from this couple.

CAMILLA CABELLO

Camilla’s look in Prabal Gurung was quite plain for the MET Gala. While the elongated train does go with the theme, but the 3D flowers and criss-cross top pull down the vibe of the outfit.

MINDY KAILING

Mindy showed up to the MET gala in a Prabal Gurung gown thinking of it as some other red carpet event. We get that not every costume needs to have a dramatic appeal and it's absolutely okay to dress down if one feels like it, but this look neither serves the purpose of the theme or ooze glamour, to say the least.

SHAWN MENDES

Shawn’s look showed up in a rather unflattering look from Tommy Hilfiger which gave Dr. Strange vibes instead of MET’s theme, glided glamour. Meh!

Just like Mindy, Emma showed up in quite a plain look wearing a Louis Vuitton ensemble that she wore for her wedding after-party. While we hail the actress for opting for a sustainable look, sadly, this is not what the MET Gala is all about!

REGE-JEAN PAGE

Seems like Rege-Jean Page wore an unseen Bridgerton outfit for the soiree and we are not sure we like what we see!
