MET Gala 2022: Fitting the Gilded Glamour theme, Kim Kardashian brings back Marilyn Monroe's charm wearing her ICONIC 1962 Jean Louis gown

The much-awaited MET Gala for the year has finally come to an end and oh boy, seems like everyone came prepared! Held on May 2 at 6 PM ET, the Oscars of Fashion witnessed an unleashed sartorial extravaganza on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The crème de la crème of the fashion industry left no stone unturned to rock this year’s theme "In America: An Anthology of Fashion." While we saw a lot of naked dresses at the star-studded soiree, Kim Kardashian’s particularly stood out from the rest of the lot. Not because it was stunning with thousands of bedazzling crystals embellished on it, but because it once belonged to the OG style icon, Marilyn Monroe!

Confirming the rumors, the beauty moghul descended on the red carpet of the gala wearing the iconic naked dress that Marilyn wore to sing Happy Birthday to President JFK in 1962. Curated by Jean Louis and originally sketched by Bob Mackie, this haute couture gown was the most expensive creation when it was sold at an auction in 1999 for $1.26 million USD, then again in 2016 for a whopping $ 4.6 million USD. Ever since, this iconic creation has been on display at Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum in Orlando, making it one of the most expensive dresses ever sold.

Adding to the bling affair of 2500 crystal beads on her naked dress were her dazzling diamond earrings. A faux fur coat completed the iconic look furthermore. The style maven oozed radiance in a bronzed glam with nude lips and smokey eyes.

Honouring both Monroe and the theme of the gala, the diva dyed her hair blonde but instead of flaunting a chic bob like the iconic star, the fashion moghul added a signature ‘Kimberly’ spin to her look and tied her long mane in a classic bun.

As one cannot alter this stunning creation, Kim admitted to loose 16lbs to fit into the dress. Moreover, it is said that the diva only wore this iconic dress to make an appearance on the MET’s steps and later changed into a replica. Diet Sabya took it to one of its stories and posted Kim’s statement for Vogue, confirming the same.

Last year the diva appeared at the gala without revealing her face and this time she wasn't the one to shy away from relieving an iconic look. Not only does Kim understands the assignment, but she also NAILS it. A true MET FASHION MOMENT,y'all!
