Oiling your mane to moisturizing, pre and post festive hacks to keep your hair and skin Holi Ready!

Though Holi wouldn’t be a grand affair this year, courtesy, a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases, but it doesn’t mean it has to a Plain Jane ritual either. Keeping all safety precautions in mind, one can always resort to celebrating this festival of colours in a very lowkey manner.

Let’s all agree, despite the pandemic, it is impossible for us not to be excited for this festival of colour and merriment. However, apart from the safety norms, there are certain beauty precautions one needs to follow to have healthy skin and hair post the festival of frizzle-and-fun. So, while we gear up for another of soaking in colours, let the skin and hair woes not worry us anymore! From oiling to moisturizing, here are some beauty hacks for skin and hair to keep us ‘Holi Ready’

OIL YOUR MANE AND TIE IT UP

It is always advisable to nourish your dry mane with coconut or almond oil before playing Holi to prevent unwanted fizziness. It also provides a layer of protection, thus preventing the colours to affect your scalp directly.

It is also advisable to tie your tresses up into a classic knot bun or braids to prevent excessive damage with harmful chemicals that are present in colours.

MOISTURIZE AND HYDRATE YOUR SKIN

Holi colours can be very harmful if they come in direct contact of your bare skin. So, it is always advisable to nourish your skin with lots of moisturizer and sunscreen to keep it well hydrated. Apart from sunscreen and moisturizers, you can also resort to Argan, olive oil, baby oil and essential oils for a better effect.

Just a handy tip- If you are making any salon appointment- WAIT till after Holi to save you an unnecessary expense for skincare services that won’t last long!

Also, wear full, comfortable clothes to minimize the exposed area of your skin that will be subjected to colours and double up the moisturizer application in those areas.

DARK NAIL PAINTS

Apart from hair and skin, our nails are subjected to harmful colours which make them pink, black and well, less presentable! And so avoid the awful colouring of nails, it’s better to apply dark nail paints well in advance!

LIP BALM AND LOTS OF IT

Lips are most sensitive part that one tends to forget while prepping the skin for Holi. Aplly lots to lip balm to keep your lips hydrated. This will also help as the protective layer between your skin and those harmful colours and will enable you to get rid of the colour stains easily.

POST HOLI DIY PACKS

It is also equally important to take care of your skin post playing with colours and home remedies and DIY masks work best when it comes to recovery. he basic and all-organic ingredients make the masks more powerful and effective, then be it a hair mask or a face pack. Here are some combinations you can try:

HAIR:

1. Coconut Oil + Shea Butter + Olive Oil

2. Sugar + Honey + Coconut Oil + Almond Oil

3. Coconut Milk + Olive Oil + Honey + Ripe Avocado (optional)

FACE:

1. Yogurt + Honey + pinch of Tumeric Powder

2. Cacao Powder + 1/4 Papaya + 2 tsp Aloe vera gel

3. Honey + pinch of Tumeric Powder + 1/2 tsp Dead Sea Salt
