Peeping Moon Exclusive : Konkona Sen Sharma returning to direction with an Amazon Prime comedy drama series

Konkona Sen Sharma is set to return behind the camera. After making her directorial debut with the critically acclaimed ‘A Death in the Gunj’ (2017) and later directing a short story in ‘Lust Stories 2’ (2023), the Bollywood actress is now venturing into long-format storytelling.

PeepingMoon.com has learned that Konkona is directing a comedy series set in South Delhi for Amazon Prime Video. Casting is currently underway, with shooting expected to begin in December or early next year, depending on the availability of the lead actors. Konkona will co-direct this show with Jaydeep Sarkar, who has previously helmed projects like ‘Feels Like Ishq’ (Netflix) and ‘Rainbow Rishta’ (Amazon Prime Video).

Konkona was supposed to make her digital directorial debut with a web series based on the life of Arati Das, better known as Miss Shefali. However, that project was shelved in 2020. Now, five years later, she is embracing a lighter genre in a web series that promises to blend humor and romance against the vibrant backdrop of South Delhi. This show marks Konkona's second collaboration with Amazon Prime Video following her exceptional performance in Nikkhil Advani’s ‘Mumbai Diaries.’

Last seen in Anurag Basu’s ‘Metro… In Dino,’ Konkona has finished her acting projects to fully concentrate on her directorial venture. The actress will be seen playing a seasoned investigator navigating a high-stakes murder case in Rohan Sippy’s ‘Search: The Naina Murder Case,’ set to premiere on Jio Hotstar on October 10. Following that, she will feature alongside Pratibha Ranta in Netflix India’s relationship drama, produced by Dharmatic Entertainment.
