Fresh off the success of Aryan Khan's Netflix series, ‘B**ds of Bollywood,’ Lakshya has just signed a new film. PeepingMoon.com has exclusively learned that he will star opposite Raveena Tandon's daughter Rasha Thadani in an action love story, produced by Jay Shewakramani under Northern Lights Films.
Lakshya and Rasha mark their first on-screen pairing since their chemistry sparked in an advertisement for the Elevn Dating App earlier this year. The film will be directed by Anirudh Iyer, who made his directorial debut with Ayushmann Khurrana’s and Jaideep Ahlawat’s ‘An Action Hero’ (2022). A blend of youthful romance with adrenaline-charged action sequences, a signature style evident in Iyer’s previous work, is to be expected. Shooting is scheduled to commence early next year.
Karan Johar was supposed to launch Lakshya with ‘Dostana 2’ and then with ‘Bedhadak,’ but both projects were shelved back then, delaying his debut for years. He eventually entered Bollywood with the action thriller ‘Kill’ and is now winning hearts and praises for his performance in ‘B**ds of Bollywood.’ The romantic actioner with Rasha will mark his first film outside Dharma Productions. Lakshya will head to this project after finishing three upcoming Dharma films, which include ‘Chand Mera Dil’ with Ananya Panday, ‘Dostana 2’ with Vikrant Massey, and Raj Mehta's ‘Lag Jaa Gale’ with Tiger Shroff and Janhvi Kapoor.
As for Rasha, she is steadily carving her own path in the industry. Though her debut film, ‘Azaad’, failed to make a mark commercially, her charisma and dancing skills earned her widespread appreciation. The 20-year-old beauty has already signed two films: ‘Laikaa Laikey’ opposite ‘Munjya’ fame Abhay Verma, and a Telugu film opposite Mahesh Babu’s nephew Jaya Krishna. The latter is being directed by ‘RX 100’ fame Ajay Bhupathi and goes on floors this month.
The Lakshya and Rasha Thadani film adds to the impressive slate of Jay Shewakramani’s banner, known for delivering diverse and engaging films such as ‘Jawaani Jaaneman,’ ‘Malang,’ ‘Freddy,’ and ‘Jaane Jaan.’ This year, the producer has already released two films: Rajkummar Rao’s gangster actioner ‘Maalik’ and Manoj Bajpayee’s cop drama, ‘Inspector Zende.’ Looking ahead, he has a horror-comedy and a courtroom drama in the works, set to be directed by Saket Chaudhary and Pulkit, respectively.
