Ajay Devgn’s 'Son of Sardaar 2' to get a solo July release as Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s 'Param Sundari' delayed

Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited 'Son of Sardaar 2' is getting a solo release. PeepingMoon.com can confirm that Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s cross-cultural romantic drama, 'Param Sundari', has been postponed from its July 25 release, clearing the path for Devgn’s action-comedy to enjoy a clear box office window.

Although speculation about a potential delay for 'Param Sundari' had been circulating since last month, producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films made the final call only recently. According to insiders, Vijan believes the film has strong commercial potential and doesn’t want it lost in a crowded release schedule. July already has three other musical romantic dramas — films in the same genre as 'Param Sundari' — which could compromise both visibility and reception for Vijan's release. Furthermore, the film’s music is integral to its identity, and Vijan feels that releasing it amidst other similar films would dilute its impact. So he has strategically opted to reposition the film to ensure it receives the attention it deserves, both for its narrative and its music.

Another key factor in the postponement is the direct clash with Ajay Devgn’s 'Son of Sardaar 2', which is a sequel to the 2012 hit musical action comedy, 'Son of Sardaar'. Facing off against such a high-profile franchise film was deemed an unnecessary risk, especially for a genre as sensitive as romantic drama.

The new release date hasn't been finalized yet, but Vijan and team are reportedly considering a late August release. They're also contemplating a September date, but that is less likely, as Janhvi Kapoor’s other project, 'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari', is scheduled for September 12, creating a potential conflict for the actress’s promotional commitments.

Meanwhile, 'Son of Sardaar 2' will now only face competition from Hollywood's 'The Fantastic Four: The First Steps' in cinemas on July 25. The sequel, which sees Ajay Devgn reprising his beloved role as Jaswinder “Jassi” Singh, boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Mrunal Thakur, Sanjay Dutt, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, and Kubbra Sait, among others. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film promises to deliver the high-energy action and humor that made the original a fan favorite.
