PeepingMoon Exclusive: Kartik Aaryan discussing a romantic comedy with Junglee Pictures; Kohrra fame Randeep Jha to direct

Kartik Aaryan has the strongest lineup among his younger colleagues. The Pyaar Ka Punchnama actor is next gearing up for the release of Kabir Khan’s ambitious sports biopic, Chandu Champion, whose trailer was released to an overwhelming response on Saturday. He will follow this June 14 release with Anees Bazmee's highly anticipated Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 on Diwali 2024 and has lined up two more movies that are set to go on floors this year, targeting a 2025 release.

Kartik’s lineup is expanding further as we hear he has tracked down another exciting project. Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Kartik is in advanced talks with Junglee Pictures for a romantic comedy titled Jasmine. Kartik has not signed the film yet, but he has given his nod, and other modalities are being quickly worked out. The film will mark Kartik's first collaboration with Junglee Pictures, popularly known for backing content-driven entertaining movies like Talwar, Raazi, Badhaai Ho, Bareilly Ki Barfi, and Doctor G, to name a few.

Randeep Jha, who directed last year's two critically acclaimed Netflix web shows, Trial by Fire and Kohrra, will helm this love story set in a small town. Jasmine will be Jha’s genre-breaking effort as it marks his first non-thriller story after a series of serious-themed projects, including his only feature directorial, the Barun Sobti-starrer 2020 crime drama, Halahal. Jha is currently finishing the writing and will get into pre-production after three months. The makers are also in talks with a young actress for the leading lady opposite Kartik, but she has not yet been finalized.

The shooting is scheduled to commence around September 2024, although the exact timeline is still not finalized and is subject to change depending on Kartik's availability. The young star is currently shooting for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and upon wrapping it up by June-end, he will commence filming for Anurag Basu’s next with Triptii Dimri. The Bhushan Kumar production is now a completely different project after their Aashiqui 3 fell through due to IP rights issues. Kartik will move to the Junglee Pictures entertainer only after finishing Anurag Basu’s romance saga.

Kartik has also committed to Vishal Bhardwaj's next gritty thriller, which is expected to go on floors at the end of this year. It's the same project that was once supposed to star the late Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. The project is now being revived with a modified script and will star Kartik in the role of Hussain Ustara, a fearless don who stood against the underworld's kingpin, Dawood Ibrahim. Kartik has also been signed on for The Night Manager director Sandeep Modi’s next action project for Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions; however, there's been no clarity on its production timeline, with whispers also suggesting that the film has been put on hold for the time being.
