Neeraj Pandey is back in the OTT space after recently directing Ajay Devgn and Tabu in Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha. PeepingMoon.com exclusively learned that Pandey has already embarked on another project, even before his upcoming romantic thriller releases on April 26, marking his first theatrical outing in six years.
Industry sources reveal that Pandey is next directing a thriller for the streaming giant Netflix, starring Avinash Tiwary, Saiyami Kher and Jimmy Sheirgill in lead roles. While the plot details are currently under wraps, the film is scheduled to commence production at the end of February, with a planned 30-day shoot across cities such as Mumbai, Agra, and Abu Dhabi. The film is said to be a typical Pandey thriller, promising to entertain the audiences with heightened feelings of suspense, excitement, surprise, and anxiety.
The yet-untitled project is a part of Netflix India's creative partnership with Pandey’s Friday Storytellers LLP, the digital content production arm of Friday Filmwork. This new film is the second to come from the strategic agreement that both companies announced in August 2023 to work together on multiple projects across films and series. Their first project, the second season of last year’s successful intriguing cop-criminal chase drama series, Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, is already in development.
Interestingly, the casting for Pandey’s latest Netflix original marks a sort of reunion for the director, as he has already worked with the lead actors individually on other projects. While Avinash Tiwary headlined Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, Saiyami Kher has been a part of Pandey’s popular Disney+Hotstar series, Special OPS, and Jimmy Sheirgill recently worked with him on Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, which showcases a love story that unfolds from 2002 to 2023.
Beyond the Netflix film, Pandey is also working on the much-awaited second season of Kay Kay Menon’s Special OPS and Khakee Chapter 2. He is also producing several films under his banner, including a Malayalam remake starring Nushrratt Bharuccha. Stay tuned for more updates!
