Exclusive | Ananya Panday on being stereotyped after Student Of The Year 2: People said I'm too young for Pati Patni Aur Woh, felt 'how is she going to do it'

Ananya Panday was quite a revelation in Arjun Varain Singh's directorial debut, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. The coming-of-age film released on Netflix on December 26, 2023, and received a thumbs-up from critics and the audience. The actress was praised for her nuanced performance as Ahana. Ananya started off her career in the Indian film industry in 2019 with Student Of The Year 2. While the film might have not received critical acclaim, the audience loved Ananya and her earnest performance.

Ananya will complete 5 years in the industry in May this year. In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon, the young starlet revealed whether she was stereotyped after Student Of The Year 2. She shared, "I was a bit stereotyped. People could only see me in a certain way. I'm very grateful to all my directors who took a chance on me, and who believed in me and gave me different roles that even I didn't think I could pull off or I could play. Even in Pati Patni Aur Woh, when people heard that I'm playing the 'Woh', they were like, "Oh, she's so young. How is she going to do it?" It was actually Juno (director Abhay Chopra) and Mudassar (producer, Mudassar Aziz) who had that belief in me that I would be able to pull it off. I credit it to all my directors and producers."

Workwise, Ananya will be seen in the lead role in Vikramaditya Motwane's film, reportedly titled Control and Prime Video's series, Call Me Bae.
