PeepingMoon Exclusive: I was hospitalised for a day, Alia Bhatt had bone ache with her back and feet hurting- Dholida choreographer Kruti Mahesh on the making of the song

National Award winner Kruti Mahesh took home the coveted Filmfare trophy for Gangubai Kathiawadi's song, Dholida, under the category of Best Choreography. Picturised on Alia Bhatt, it is a Garba number. In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon.com, Kruti shared some anecdotes from the sets of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali magnum opus. The choreographer revealed she was hospitalised for a day and Alia was suffering from back ache and her feet and bones were hurting.

Kruti recalled, "I got a call from Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir in January 2020. I showed him the first version of the choreography and he loved it. Then the pandemic happened. We finally shot Dholida in January 2021. From choreographing it to winning an award, it feels like a journey in itself. I was hospitalised for a day whereas Alia was suffering from bone ache, back pain and her feet were hurting too. There was a physiotherapist on the set."

She further added, "Sanjay sir gets so passionate about his films that everything gets divine. Before shooting the last portion of Dholida, he said let's take a break. I was hospitalised and returned a day later. We then took 2 days to choreograph that trance portion. It was a one-take shot and it was designed on the set itself. Alia wasn't called for rehearsal. The portion is almost 55 seconds long and that too a single take. If it wasn't for Alia, I don't think we would have pulled it off."

Dholida was composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali whereas Janhvi Shrimankar and Shail Hada were the singers. Kumaar wrote the lyrics.
