Safarnama Episode 1: Viraj Ghelani reveals why he makes fun of his own shortcomings for content, says 'was very embarrassed about my middle class behaviour'

Viraj Ghelani, known for making super-relatable content, started off his journey by being 'embarrassed about his middle-class behaviour'. The social media star turned actor, who now makes jokes about his own shortcomings, was once ashamed of it and that's how he turned his insecurities into quality content.

In PeepingMoon's new show Safarnama, Viraj spoke about making fun of his own shortcomings. He said, "I was very embarrassed about my middle class behaviour, I was very embarrassed about the way I looked. You know aise cheezon se main bahot embarrassed tha. But when I started making jokes on the way I looked and I started making jokes on my middle class behaviour, it started connecting to a lot of people. Aur merko na English itna nahi aata. Toh agar mai uska joke kar raha tha ki English merko nahi aata toh log aur haste hai."

He added, "Main bola yaar agar mai khud ka hi mazaak kar raha hu, self replicating jokes maar raha hu, khud ka mazaak kar raha hu or I’m addressing something which is a fault, people in general pretend bahot karte hai ki unko aata hai but log in general kisiko bhi aadhi cheezen nahi aati hongi. Toh uss chakkar mai merko laga haan yaar toh maine pehela video usse seekh ke banaya ki middle class ghar pe kya hota hai aur vo bahot viral hua. Tab mujhe laga ki apne hisaab se raho toh logo ko zyada pasand aata hai toh vo mera sone tha jaha se mujhe laga ab khud kar sakta hu main. So it took me 4 & a half years to do that."
