Sushmita Sen has no time to sit and react to every piece of trolling she has been receiving online ever since she made her relationship with business tycoon Lalit Modi official. She is in a happy space in her life and is focusing more on her career, which has taken a new high after the success of Disney+Hotstar’s crime-thriller series, Aarya. In Ram Madhvani’s adaptation of the Dutch drama Penoza, Sen plays the role of an independent woman who seeks to protect her family and joins a mafia gang in order to get revenge for her husband’s murder. The show was recently renewed for a third season that will see Sen’s character, Aarya Sareen, battling with new challenges. However, it will not be Sen’s next project as she is doing one more web series before that.
Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Sushmita Sen has signed her second web series. The new, yet-untitled show is a six-episode female-led thrilling drama for the OTT platform Voot Select. Sen plays the central role of a strong-willed woman trying to challenge the ideologies of Indian patriarchal society. Although the plot and other casting details are not yet available, we heard the series attempts to open the minds and perspectives of the viewers with a powerful, riveting storyline. Sen has apparently already started her preparations to get into the skin of this powerful character and will start shooting in September 2022. She will head to Aarya season 3 early next year, only after finishing this new series.

Marathi filmmaker Ravi Jadhav, who made his Bollywood debut with Riteish Deshmukh’s Banjo (2016), will direct this Voot Select series. The filmmaker is already helming a Hindi web show, titled Chidiya Udd, starring Jackie Shroff and Sikandar Kher, which will soon stream on MX Player. Kshitij Patwardhan, who has written Marathi films like Double Seat, Faster Fene, and Mauli, has written this series, while Arjun Singgh Baron and Kartik D Nishandar produce it under their Mumbai-based studio, Global Sports Entertainment And Media Solutions (GSEAMS). The company, which has produced Marathi films such as Mogra, Phulaalaa, Ranangan, Vicky Velingkar, and Bali, among others, has recently expanded its reach into Hindi cinema, and this Sushmita Sen-starrer will be their third Hindi web series, following Raktanchal Season 2 (MX Player) and Naxalbari (Zee5).
