Tabu’s first-ever double role in this Anees Bazmee-directed horror comedy has earned her accolades from every corner of the world. Coming up next, Tabu has two films with Vishal Bhardwaj and two with Ajay Devgn, all showing her in a range of characters, scheduled for release this year and the next. In addition to her already packed lineup, we heard Tabu has recently signed a new film for Dinesh Vijan’s banner, Maddock Films.

Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Tabu is next doing a thriller film, titled Teacher’s Day, for Maddock Films. The film will be directed by Gujarati filmmaker Mikhil Musale and will see Tabu playing the role of a teacher. Musale has previously directed the National Award-winning Gujarati film, Wrong Side Raju (2016), and made his Bollywood debut three years ago with the Rajkummar Rao-starrer Made In China. Tabu, who’s known for playing powerful characters in films such as Chandni Bar, Andhadhun, The Nameshake, Maqbool, and Haider, is said to be essaying the role of an unpredictable woman in this film that is solely carried on her shoulders. Sohum Majumder, who played Shahid Kapoor’s best friend in Kabir Singh, also plays a pivotal role. It’s the first time Tabu will be seen playing a teacher in her three-decade long career. The actress was once supposed to play a school teacher in a UTV production, titled Bombay High, fifteen years earlier. It was a film set in a high school that was supposed to deal with teenage angst and their problems, and was to mark the directorial debut of Nupur Asthana. R Madhavan was also rumoured to be starring in this film, however, the project never saw the light of the day. Ashthana has since then gone on to direct films like Mujhse Fraandship Karoge!, Bewakoofiyaan, and the popular Amazon Prime series, Made In Heaven.

Talking about Tabu's lineup, she has finished shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj’s Netflix espionage thriller, Khoofiya and Aashmaan Bhardwaj’s caper-thriller, Kuttey, and will resume shooting for Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa next week in Hyderabad. She is expected to dive into the Dinesh Vijan production right after completing the Kaithi remake, directed by Dharmendra Sharma. Tabu also has Drishyam 2 with Ajay Devgn, scheduled to be released in theatres on November 18, 2022.
