PeepingMoon Exclusive: Saumya Tandon & Nehha Pendse set the benchmark high, I will not disappoint anyone- Vidisha Srivastava on playing Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain's Anita

Vidisha Srivastava, who made her television debut with Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, is all set to play Anita Vibhuti Narayan Mishra in &TV's popular show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! The character was originally played by Saumya Tandon and then Nehha Pendse.

Now, as Vidisha takes up the responsibility of entertaining the audience as Anita, PeepingMoon spoke to her about signing Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, comparisons with Saumya and Nehha and whether she senses any additional pressure while taking the journey of a popular character forward.

Excerpts from the interview:

What made you say yes to Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!?

I have been following Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! for quite some years. It is a huge and widely popular show, so there was no reason to say no to it.

Are you worried about comparison with Saumya Tandon and Nehha Pendse?

See, I will do my best. Yes, I have butterflies in my stomach for my first telecast episode but I am not worried about comparisons. In fact, I am excited. Saumya Tandon set a benchmark for the character and Nehha followed that. Now, I will also try my best to not disappoint anyone.

With your entry in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, can the audience expect some new and fresh flavours to the storyline?

Yes, absolutely. Every actor has his or her own unique flavour and acting style. Though I will retain the essence of Anita’s character, the audience will see Vidisha's flavour to it.

You have done films in the South before Hindi TV. What’s the reason behind this shift?

I have done quite some films down South and just a few years ago, I started working in the Hindi television industry. I am from Varanasi and wanted to grow as an actor in the Hindi belt too. What’s better than TV to do so?

You are a popular face on television, what’s kept you away from reality shows like Bigg Boss and Khatron Ke Khiladi?

Ever since I started working, work has fortunately kept me occupied. I never got enough time to think about reality shows. If offered, let's see.
