Vaani Kapoor starred in one of her most challenging and brave roles in Abhishek Kapoor's critically acclaimed film Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. The actress played Maanvi, a trans Zumba instructor. Vaani, who is almost a decade old in Bollywood, was lauded by the critics and audience alike for her work. There was a debate around the fact that a trans girl was not cast for the role of Maanvi. In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon for its Best of 2021 segment, Vaani reacted to the debate.
The actress further said if she had the chance, she would have chosen a trans girl to play Maanvi in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. "I would choose a trans girl. Simran Sahni, who came with the idea (of Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui), has two daughters. I don't know whether they are inclined towards acting but they are lovely. They are two beautiful trans daughters. I would have picked either of them, whoever was more inclined," Vaani told.

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui also starred Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead. The film released in theatres on December 10, 2021.
