PeepingMoon Exclusive: Parineeti Chopra joins the ensemble cast of Sooraj Barjatya-Amitabh Bachchan film tentatively titled 'Oonchai'

Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya's next directorial has been in the news for its ensemble cast that boasts of veteran actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, and Neena Gupta among others. Said to be a friendship saga, the film has been titled Oonchai and will go on floors next month. Now, Peepingmoon.com has learned that Parineeti Chopra has also joined the cast of this slice-of-life story.

Sources have informed us that Parineeti Chopra is also a part of the cast and will play a pivotal role in the film. Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, and Boman Irani are said to be playing three older friends while the character details of Neena Gupta and Parineeti Chopra have been kept under wraps. "It's a special project for Sooraj Barjatya as he is exploring the theme of friendship between three older friends who're going through different phases in their lives, dealing with personal and family issues. It's a typical Sooraj Barjatya film set in a space that's similar to Farhan Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Barjatya has penned a script that's very lively and heartfelt, and completely justifies the presence of Bachchan and others. It's a beautiful, heart-touching story that will be remembered for long," a source close to the development told us.

Oonchai is also special because it's going to be shot in the picturesque locations of Nepal. The Rajshri Productions venture is scheduled to go on floors on 5th October in the Kathmandu valley with all the safety protocols in place. A one-month schedule has been planned in and around Kathmandu while the locations in Lukla, Lamche, Manang, Mustang, and Langtang are currently being finalized. Sooraj Barjatya and his team are soon expected to fly to Kathmandu to lock the shooting spots before they set up a shooting timeline for the actors. The makers are simultaneously also in talks with the Nepal government to provide them a safe and hassle-free shooting environment.
