Peepingmoon.com exclusively informed its readers last month that Vidya Balan is collaborating with producers Tanuj Garg and Atul Kasbekar of Ellipsis Entertainment once again after the success of their 2017 social-comedy Tumhari Sulu. We revealed that after discussing a couple of ideas over months they've zeroed in on a realistic slice-of-life drama that will go on floors once the COVID-19 lockdown subsides. Today, as Vidya Balan's new film Sherni that talks about the human and wildlife relationship premieres on Amazon Prime Video, we've got an exciting further update on her next project that will double the curiosity of her fans.
We've now learned that Vidya Balan's yet-untitled film with Ellipsis Entertainment will also star the young Bollywood sensation Pratik Gandhi. And interestingly, the Scam 1992 star will be romantically paired opposite Vidya in this romantic comedy. It's believed to be revolving around two couples and while Vidya and Pratik will play the first romantic pair, the makers are yet to lock the second couple. The film co-produced by Swati Iyer Chawla is said to be challenging social patriarchy through a new-age storyline that's not been attempted very often in the Hindi film industry.
Ad filmmaker Shirsha Guha Thakurta who's known for her distinct and content-driven ad films that are stirring and memorable will be directing this film. Shirsha has previously assisted Ram Gopal Varma on his films Rann (2010), Phoonk (2008), and Contract (2008) and will make her feature directorial debut with this Tanuj Garg production. The film's pre-production is expected to begun soon and will hit the floors later this year with a 45-days shooting schedule planned in Mumbai and South India."
As Peepingmoon.com reported earlier, Vidya Balan has signed two films out of which Suresh Triveni's next directorial that also stars Shefali Shah alongside her will hit the floors first, followed by this Tanuj Garg production. Meanwhile, Pratik Gandhi already has several projects in his kitty and will shoot for this Vidya Balan film after completing Tigmanshu Dhulia's Disney+Hotstar adaptation of Six Suspects, co-starring Sharib Hashmi and Richa Chadha. The actor also has Siddharth Roy Kapur's Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan with Taapsee Pannu scheduled to go on floors in November this year!
However, when contacted, Tanuj Garg of Ellipsis Entertainment responded with a statement: "Untrue. The casting is nowhere close to locked. In fact even the scripting is still in progress. We can announce only when we are ready."
