PeepingMoon Exclusive: 'Review trolls' try to connect us with the audience by only making jokes at our expense, glad Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar is answering back all naysayers: Arjun Kapoor

Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra's Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar released in theatres on March 19 but had a brief run at the box office as the nation once again went into lockdown from April 5. The Dibakar Banerjee directorial has now released on Amazon Prime Video and is receiving rave reviews. As Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar is getting its due on OTT, Arjun, who played the role of Pinky Dahiya, spoke to PeepingMoon.com about the initial negative reviews for the film. Arjun lashed out at 'review trolls' for appeasing eyeballs and making the audience believe them.

In the interview, Arjun said, "I read all the reviews and remember all those. There are so many so-called reviewers, ‘YouTubers’, they have their opinions, they played in the galleries of trolls and glorified trollers in the garb of trying to get hits and views. It had started from the trailer. I’ve seen these people in the past, who have done interviews with me and have been decent with me turn into these unfortunate 'review trolls' who try and connect us with the audience by only making jokes at our expense. Then I have seen them turn also, voh fitrat hoti hai logon ki. They go with the tide. You can’t take it to heart. You absorb it I understood it, I’ve known it since the time I came into the industry. I never take it to heart. I’m always open to good criticism and I’ve said it many times. I’m always open to understanding what the audience feels. I’m always open to brickbats but I am also open to the bouquets; I’m just going to enjoy the bouquets. You have to remember that you can’t take everybody seriously when you are down. They don’t know what they are doing. They are just appeasing eyeballs. That’s the culture we are in. We all want attention. We are capable of writing and speaking absolute rubbish for it. To hold on to your honestly, purity, sanctity and be honest in your job is very difficult. We look at politicians for corruption, but there is so much corruption in our industry too. You get corrupt because you chase views. They wanted meme-worthy articles, have headlines that catch attention and a lot of personal digs also. I am fully abreast of who says what. I might not follow everybody but I get everything, my intel comes in. You store it, you use it for good. Today, I feel Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar is answering back all those naysayers and I am very happy. I’m not saying with any ill towards them but mujhe pata tha mere andar yeh hai. I was just being patient, I thought Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar was that opportunity when I signed and I knew how hard I have worked on it. When it wasn’t coming through so I said, “I’ll do something else again to make sure I can show my craft to my audience.” I feel the middle (the media), there was a wall being built between me and the audience."

Reacting to the success of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, Arjun said, "Mujhe pata nahi tha Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar will take me to the audience. I didn’t expect that because of what happened in the film’s circumstances. I had belief in myself, I am happy that it happened with Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. I had full confidence in myself but I didn’t know how to reach there. I would have found the way, I’m a person who never gives up. I’m glad hard work is paying and I’m glad to know that I predicted all those people joh girgit ki tarah rang badalte hai. Main unko inki shaklon se pehchanta hu. Unki review ke namon see janta hu aur trolls see bhi
