The late Irrfan’s son Babil is following in the footsteps of his iconic father! PeepingMoon.com has exclusively learned that Babil is making his acting debut in Anushka Sharma’s next production that will directly premiere on Netflix India. The project is said to be a supernatural drama, titled Qala, and will see Babil playing the lead alongside Bulbbul girl Tripti Dimri who is also a talent of Karan Johar’s Dharma Cornerstone Agency. This film is the same Anvita Dutt directorial we exclusively revealed last month.
Interestingly, Babil is getting into acting with an OTT project unlike most other star kids who prefer a big extravaganza theatrical for their debuts. He is officially kicking off his journey after working as a camera assistant on his father’s quirky comedy Qarib Qarib Singlle in 2017. Babil and Tripti have started shooting and completed the first schedule of their film today in Gulmarg. Set in the zone similar to Anvita Dutt’s Bulbbul, the film also stars Swastika Mukherjee.
Babil was inconsolable while receiving the Lifetime Achievement award on Irrfan’s behalf at Filmfare recently. That entire gig on him being there was the award’s highlight. Last month, while remembering Irrfan’s previous films, Babil hinted at plans of joining the film industry soon himself, but remained tight-lipped about the project.
However, he shared a picture from the film set today confirming that he has completed the first schedule of his first film. While details are not mentioned in his Instagram post, our sources have confirmed that Babil’s making his debut with Clean Slate Filmz’s Netflix drama, Qala.
