Exclusive: Irrfan back in Mumbai, being treated at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital

On World Cancer Day, PeepingMoon.com is in the position to bust one of the mysteries surrounding Bollywood actor and Hollywood crossover Irrfan (Khan). The Big C uncharacteristically targeted a number of Hindi cinema actors last year. And the media today, expectedly, came out with their stories of struggle, success and survival against the life-threatening disease. One among them is Irrfan’s. The actor, who was last seen in the road film Karwaan in August 2018, is suffering from neuroendocrine cancer for which he’s reportedly being treated secretly in London. That’s the story.

However, PeepingMoon.com has learned that Irrfan is back. He’s in Mumbai and is being treated post-London quietly at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri. In between, when he feels better, Irrfan is believed to make quick trips to Tonk town outside Jaipur where he is originally from. There was talk of the actor returning in December last year to begin shooting for Hindi Medium 2, the sequel to his 2017 hit. His spokesperson said that was all speculation but added that Irrfan might come back to India after Diwali. That didn’t happen. And the mystery around Irrfan continued to grow.

In March last year, Irrfan had taken to social media to inform the industry and his fans that he had been diagnosed with a high-grade cancer. Then in an interview in August he all but ruled out returning to acting. “I’m completely out of reading scripts. My days are unpredictable. I don’t plan. I go for breakfast and then I don’t have a plan. I take things as they come. I’m just spontaneous,” Irrfan had said. He had added, after four cycles of chemo, that he needed six cycles and would then do a scan and hope it was positive. “We’ll see where it takes me. There’s no guarantee of life with anybody,” Irrfan had said. But we believe, the actor like Sonali Bendre, Manisha Koirala, and Rakesh Roshan, has overcome cancer and is back.
